Lina is a Registered Kinesiologist who graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Kinesiology. She has a strong passion working with others to help them achieve their goals or to help achieve a pain free lifestyle! Lina’s passion stemmed from her own recent injury when she tore her ACL and meniscus playing basketball and had a long recovery process in which she understood the impact her team of practitioners had along the rehab journey. Because of this, Lina has a great understanding of how to rehab the knee following surgery or how to strengthen the joint even if you’re hoping to take a more conservative approach to rehab and healing! She wishes to make a difference, even if it’s a small one, for everyone she treats to help achieve their goals. Certifications & professional experience - Neurokinetic Therapy - Level 2 - Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization - IASTM - Anatomy Trains - Fascial Integration - Joint Mobilizations - Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction - TMJ/TMJD
Special interest - Calvin’s treatment approach centers predominantly on the comprehensive rehabilitation of injuries, spanning from the sub-acute phase to the chronic phase, encompassing timelines that may extend from several months to multiple years. In addition to addressing injury-related concerns, Calvin’s methodology is designed to optimize bodily functions and foster heightened awareness in specific areas. This proactive and preventive treatment methodology serves as a valuable safeguard against potential future injuries, fortifying the body’s resilience and promoting long-term well-being.
Languages spoken - English - Cantonese
Personal touch - Spending time with Waffles 🐶 - Cycling - Snowboarding - Weight-lifting - Focusing on overall health and wellness personally and within the community
Calvin graduated from West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2020. He has taken special training with IASTM (Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization), and fascial work but mainly focuses his practice on NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT).
He is an outgoing, passionate and active individual. Outside of work he is an avid cyclist and enjoys shredding the slopes. With over 8 years of physically demanding and office-setting work, Calvin noticed some physical changes in his body regarding poor movement patterns, painful posture, and chronic pain alongside his previous injuries through sports. He then quickly became curious about what preventative maintenance he could’ve done to live a more enjoyable, pain-free life.
Through experiencing multiple injuries he was given the opportunity to seek massage therapy and found soft tissue mobilization to be extremely effective. As a result, this gave Calvin the passion to pursue a profession where he can empower and educate his patients, ultimately leading them into a pain-free lifestyle. Through his education in becoming a Registered Massage Therapist at WCCMT, he gained clinical experience working with a vast number of the population and conditions which includes seniors, neurological, and sports injuries.
Calvin believes that no patient presents exactly the same, this being said he would formulate a treatment approach specifically for each individual including specific homecare and exercises to maximize the effectiveness of each massage therapy treatment.
Ultimately Calvin would like to make an impact on his community by helping others get back to doing what they love in an improved pain-free way!
Please note: This is not your standard massage therapy session. Calvin will focus on manual therapy to enhance your movement. Our aim is to improve your mobility and create stability, so we ask that you come dressed in shorts and a sports bra or tank top, as you’ll be moving around periodically during the session. We look forward to working with you!
